Update 5

It took a bit longer than expected, but here’s Update 5! This update is easily the largest one I’ve published so far, so I hope it’s enjoyable. The contents of this update are way too big to put into a single post, but here's some highlights (the full update changes have been put into a pastebin at the bottom of this post):

First and foremost, many issues have been fixed! The new pause menu now works fully, and shop upgrades now work correctly. Truthfully, I didn’t test Update 4 as much as I should’ve and normally do. All the other fixes can be found in the aforementioned full changes list.

In terms of new content, there’s quite a bit, such as custom furniture for AKs and ARs. As a result of the underlying changes made for this however, existing AKs on existing saves will be a bit broken, as the new slots aren’t retroactively added. The simplest and best solution is to take the attachments off the gun, sell it, and buy another one.

There are also two new areas and a new faction. First, the new areas: Slums, and Metro. These both have a fairly small amount of content right now, but are perfectly playable and will be expanded upon in the future. A preview of Metro can be found in the image at the top of this post. Metro is also featured in the further work that was done on the “end-game” sequence, which can be found in the pastebin.

The new faction is more like multiple of them at once. Being introduced are the private corporate security forces for the various corporate areas you can do missions at, shown as Security on the map. Other factions can still appear in these areas, but this new Security faction will be at them most of the time. Currently only the low and moderate threat versions of this faction are implemented. In the future, I hope to add a high threat armored enforcer version of these enemies.

The last major change I want to highlight here is a new cyberware core type: Techie, and its' alternate, Savant. As the name implies, these are focused on technology, with addons that increase the time given to extract exports, decrease the time for selling them, and give the ability to blind fire one of a specified type of hacking projectile without the need for a cyberdeck.

Of course, as I mentioned, there is still much more to this update than just what was mentioned here, the full update changes list can be found here: https://pastebin.com/GUQ7kRs4

That’s it for this update. The next update will likely not be until at least March, and it’s looking like it will probably be the full release update, with a focus on getting the “endgame” sequence into a complete state, but I’m not sure yet, so we’ll see. If it is, I’ll announce it at least a few weeks before the release. As always, keep an eye on the Trello for updates.
